I WAS IN A LOCAL EVANGELICAL PENTECOSTAL CHURCH WHERE THE PASTOR HAD ASKED ONE OF THE PROMINENT CHURCH PERSONS TO SHARE HOW GOD WAS HELPING HIM TO MEET HIS GOALS NOW IN LIFE..
I here was expecting spiritual, godly goals now.. but instead the divorced person now shared that his main goals was finding a second wife and getting remarried, getting a good paying job, next buying a nice home and a nice car too.. Clearly I seem to have missed those supporting goals, related Bible verses in the New Testament even in my Sunday School upbringing.. because they are not at all mention, or confirmed there as being godly goals, rather they are the too common secular goals many of us have.. and yes there is no promise of God that he would endeavor, next help us to meet these self centered goals. Do correct me if I am here wrong!!!
(Luke 8:14 KJV) And that which fell among thorns are they, which, when they have heard, go forth, and are choked with cares and riches and pleasures of this life, and bring no fruit to perfection.
(1 Cor 7:29 KJV) But this I say, brethren, the time is short: it remaineth, that both they that have wives be as though they had none; 30 And they that weep, as though they wept not; and they that rejoice, as though they rejoiced not; and they that buy, as though they possessed not; 31 And they that use this world, as not abusing it: for the fashion of this world passeth away.
(1 Cor 15:36 KJV) Thou fool, that which thou sowest is not quickened, except it die:
(Mat 19:23 KJV) Then said Jesus unto his disciples, Verily I say unto you, That a rich man shall hardly enter into the kingdom of heaven. :24 And again I say unto you, It is easier for a camel to go through the eye of a needle, than for a rich man to enter into the kingdom of God.
(James 1:11 KJV) For the sun is no sooner risen with a burning heat, but it withereth the grass, and the flower thereof falleth, and the grace of the fashion of it perisheth: so also shall the rich man fade away in his ways.
(Luke 12:20 KJV) But God said unto him, Thou fool, this night thy soul shall be required of thee: then whose shall those things be, which thou hast provided? 12:21 So is he that layeth up treasure for himself, and is not rich toward God.
(Mat 6:33 KJV) But seek ye first the kingdom of God, and his righteousness; and all these things shall be added unto you. 34 Take therefore no thought for the morrow: for the morrow shall take thought for the things of itself. Sufficient unto the day is the evil thereof. (Gal 2:10 KJV) Only they would that we should remember the poor; the same which I also was forward to do.
(Eph 5:17 KJV) Wherefore be ye not unwise, but understanding what the will of the Lord is. 18 And be not drunk with wine, wherein is excess; but be filled with the Spirit;
